I saw an ad today from a online store selling a white double breasted coat

Immediately my thoughts were

“I must have it.”

So,

I clicked on the ad, saw the website, saw that it was legit

Ordered it and got the email confirmation

Pretty standard, right?

Now here’s where the magic started happening

After I was done purchasing that coat

I got another email asking me if I would like something complimentary with my coat

They showed me matching shoes, cufflinks for my shirts, some dress inspirations, etc

I saw some shirts that I liked and I ordered those as well.

While checking out I also got some accessories for cleaning the white blazer because it get’s dust on it easier as compared to other colors.

If I had just gotten one email I would have probably just gotten that single article.

But, because I was a in a receptive state of mind and I really liked what I was getting I was thankful to them.

It easily increased the life time value of a client (me) by 50%.

THE LESSON:

When people are buying what they like and what they want and need they will be thankful to you

The only time people don’t want to buy from you is when they feel like they are being sold

Otherwise it’s a pleasure for them

ACTION ITEMS:

  • Implement a cross sell, upsell and downsell sequence in your marketing campaigns
  • Always always always offer people the option to buy something else from you
  • Don’t be afraid of selling
  • Present more offers, the more offers you make the more money you make
